第1240堀:説明の難しさ (Part1)
Chapter 1240: The Difficulty of Explanation
Side: Rurua
"Hey, are you all right?"
My husband waves his hand vaguely in front of Orelia and the others, but...
"..."
All three of them are staring blankly at their status screens, completely dazed.
Well, that is only to be expected.
After all...
"I’m so happy to see more people receiving blessings like this lately. Right, Hairen?"
"Yes. I can tell that these children are worthy."
Yes, Lady Lilishe, the Goddess worshipped by our Lithea Church, and Lady Hairen, the Goddess worshipped by the Hairen Church.
These two had bestowed their blessings—partly to corroborate my husband’s life story, and partly, I suspect, to show respect for the resolve Orelia and her companions had displayed.
Still, the reaction of these three is natural.
To have a divine blessing bestowed upon you so suddenly is rare, or rather... in the normal course of things, it is impossible.
So, it is only natural for them to be stunned, dumbfounded, or perhaps...
"A-amazing!? For real? For real!?"
"I-impossible. M-my skills... they’ve increased."
Perhaps it is normal for them to cry out in surprise, much like Wazfi and Nairua?
Well, since they also possess the side of researchers who top the Magic Academy, they might be a bit different from the norm.
"Hey, Rurua. Are Orelia and the others going to be okay?"
Oh, my husband is calling for me.
I quickly approach them to check on their condition.
Though their focus remains fixed on their status screens, they are blinking properly, their breathing is steady, and while their pulses are elevated, they are well within a safe range.
In other words...
"They are fine. They are simply overwhelmed by the shock. After all, such things do not happen in the ordinary world."
"I see. Still, this is a bit of a predicament."
"Indeed. It would be best to leave them be for a moment. Wazfi and Nairua are making quite a racket, so perhaps we should settle them down first."
"You're right."
With that, my husband and I head toward the two who are being excessively boisterous.
"Hey, settle down, you two."
The moment my husband speaks, they crowd around him.
"What is the meaning of this!? That priestess and deaconess are actually goddesses!?"
"I-I can't believe it. I-is there any other proof?"
They press him, but since such things are not to be questioned, I exert a bit of "pressure" and intervene.
"Did you two not hear my husband’s words? Please, compose yourselves."
"Y-yes!"
"U-understood."
At once, they flinch and fall silent, obediently retreating.
"I understand you’re excited, but the subject here isn't the true identity of those two. We won't make any progress if you keep acting like this, so please, stay calm."
"Eh? There’s still more?"
"...What could it possibly be?"
"That is for you to look forward to. Now, next."
Yuki-sama says this while looking toward Seraria. Or rather, his gaze seems to be directed at Fiora, who is standing next to her.
She is putting on a brave face, but...
"Fiora. Are you keeping up?"
"Eh, ah, yes... No, wait, am I? I feel like I’m not keeping up at all because of how overwhelming this is. Ahaha..."
Oh my, it seems that while she looks fine, she is actually on the verge of being knocked out.
"Well, it’s impressive that you’ve managed to keep it off your face, a result of surviving so many life-or-death situations. Though, your agitation is coming through loud and clear, so it doesn't mean much."
"I-I am terribly sorry, Seraria-sama."
"You don't need to apologize. I was quite surprised myself when I first met Lady Lilishe. And this time, there were two of them at once, so it can't be helped."
Ah, that is certainly true.
Though, at that time, I was so worried about whether I could bear my husband’s child that I didn't have the capacity to be surprised by anything else.
Still, considering the "commotion" that followed—suddenly bestowing a blessing on Shera, who knew nothing at the time, staying in Weed, and the fact that our church had actually driven away the very Goddess we worshipped a few generations prior—I think the situation was, in a sense, even more chaotic than what Fiora is experiencing now.
My consciousness begins to drift, but I manage to pull myself back.
What I must do now is explain things to them.
It would be counterproductive if we were the ones to collapse.
As I am thinking this, from behind me...
"Hey, Kagura. I feel like things were pretty intense back in our day, too, weren't they?"
"Well, yes. I feel like Lady Hairen and Lady Lilishe appeared almost at the same time, and outside, there was..."
"Yes, yes. You two, be quiet. That was a different time with different circumstances."
"Indeed. I understand your feelings, but saying such things here will only cause further confusion."
Enola and Stasia stepped in to stop them before I could even issue a gag order.
Thank goodness.
For some reason, Kagura and Mikos were left out of the loop.
I would have had to give them "training"—not punishment, of course—at a later date.
"Now, I know you’re all surprised, but the fact that those two are 'Goddesses' is merely preliminary information. It’s nothing more than a side note to what I am about to tell you."
"!?!"
Seeing that everyone has calmed down, my husband continues his story.
Yes, revealing the true identities of Lady Lilishe and Lady Hairen was only necessary to set the stage for what comes next.
Therefore, if they cannot accept at least this much, they will never be able to keep up with the unfolding narrative.
"For now, I will explain everything in one go, so please just listen until the end."
When my husband says this, Orelia and the others nod.
From there, he begins the story I have heard before: the circumstances of how my husband was brought to this world, and the existence of the High God, Luna-sama.
His mission to "prevent the magic depletion phenomenon," and the ability of Dungeon Master granted to him for that purpose.
He speaks of the origins of the Dungeon Masters and the Gods, and a brief history of his journey thus far—a story that feels nostalgic in its own way.
"Well, that’s the story of my life. Oh, look at the time."
With that, my husband concludes his story.
As expected of him, he summarized it well, but it still lasted two hours, and the clock is already nearing twelve.
Or perhaps I should say it is amazing that he could condense his entire history into just two hours.
As I am thinking this, my husband stands up smoothly.
"They really couldn't keep up, could they? They look like 'cats listening to a lecture on the cosmos,' completely lost. I can't be the one to nurse them back to health, so I’ll leave it to you, my wives."
When I look at Orelia and the others again, they are indeed just staring blankly into the void.
It seems they couldn't keep up with the content of the story and have let their consciousness drift away.
"..."
