第1310堀:仕事の予定変更、穴埋めが意外と大変 (Part2)
"Spears are definitely the way to go! But it looks like you need to know how to use a dagger too!"
"I really admire that female knight, being able to trade blows with Mr. Raiya like that. I wonder who she is?"
"No idea, I haven't seen her around... but since Mr. Yuki is with her, maybe she's a Royal Guard?"
The children gathered in a buzzing crowd, their voices filled with excitement. As we made our way through the school building, students passed us by, each offering a polite greeting.
"Hey, everyone. You all look lively," Yuki called out.
"Yeah, the kids are full of energy," Raiya replied. "By the way, aren't you going to announce Princess Fiora's identity?"
"It's a promise I made to them. I can't just blurt it out; it would put her in a difficult position."
"Yes," Fiora added. "I appreciate your concern, Lord Raiya, but this is what is best for both myself and my country."
"Well, if she's fine with it, I won't say anything more. But you should appreciate Yuki's feelings too—he treasures his wives. He's not the type of guy who can treat his women poorly."
"That... yes. He does treasure me. He even indulged me like this today."
"Ah, I see. Yuki's got it rough, huh?"
"Don't say that," Yuki countered. "She's the one who wanted this. It's just... our idea of 'treasuring' someone is different from theirs."
"Normally, a princess is someone to be protected. But everyone around Yuki seems to prefer fighting for themselves."
We couldn't really argue with that. After all, Queen Seraria and the others truly do enjoy taking up the sword themselves, and there is no doubt that we would put our lives on the line to protect Lord Yuki.
Talking as we went, we entered the staff room and took seats on the guest sofas in the corner. However, we were essentially outsiders here. The teachers' gazes gravitated toward us—a sensation we were used to, though it was never particularly comfortable.
"So," Raiya began, "did something happen at the international school?"
"It did. Well, it's not a catastrophe, but it's not something I can ignore. To put it simply, the staff is almost entirely female. There's only one male teacher."
Yuki delivered the facts with a directness that lacked any hesitation. I had expected him to be a bit more indirect, so his bluntness caught me by surprise.
"That sounds rough. I assume the student body isn't just girls?"
"Of course there are boys. Honestly, it was unexpected... or rather, it completely slipped my mind."
"That's rare for you, Yuki. Or maybe it's *because* it's you."
"Hm? What do you mean?"
"You're so used to being around women, Yuki. You probably didn't even register it as a problem."
"Ah, I see. That might have played a part. Anyway, here's the data."
"...I see. So the reason for the imbalance is that the female teachers were all people you already knew?"
"Yeah. I didn't want things to fail during the trial phase, so I gathered people I was comfortable with."
"The other side probably has their own motives too. I get the gist of it. But I have my own duties here. I'm not abandoning my teaching post at this school."
"We're going to coordinate that. For now, tell me which parts of your schedule are non-negotiable."
From there, it wasn't just Raiya; the principal and the rest of the staff joined in to adjust the schedules. I watched with admiration, realizing how much effort it took just to move a single person.
Next, we would need to take this schedule to Lady Ratz and ensure it meshed with the work planned on their end... Yes, it seemed there was still a long road ahead. Finding the perfect balance without any surplus or deficit is truly a difficult task. The more people you have, the more you must distribute the workload; having talent that does nothing is a pure loss.
When you step into the shoes of management, your perspective truly changes. There isn't a company in the world that can afford to keep idle hands on the payroll.
