"I see. Well, since we’ve touched upon the subject of the school, let’s move on to the reports from the school staff first."
With the reports from Eris-onesama and Ratz-onesama concluded, Onii-sama turned his gaze toward us. When he says "school staff," he is referring to us, the students currently attending. Ah, but perhaps Tori-onesama’s security report should have come first?
While the questions for this meeting were indeed decided in advance, the order of the reports was not set in stone. This was done so that we would be prepared to answer immediately whenever called upon. Since every department is required to report, the total duration of the meeting remains consistent regardless of the order, so the process is moving along without issue.
Still, in this case, who would be first? As I tilted my head in thought, Onii-sama spoke.
"Let’s see... since we’ve already heard from the Principal and Vice Principal, let’s hear from the students next. Vilia, you’re in the High School division, right? Can you go?"
"Yes."
I stood up immediately upon being addressed by Onii-sama. I have been entrusted with the report for the High School division this time. Dressa has her report for the Navy, and Hiiro is handling the Elementary division. Since everyone else has reports for their respective departments, the duty of reporting for the High School falls to me.
"Regarding the High School division, there have been no notable troubles. Initially, the students seemed to find Weed a novelty and would head into town almost every day, but things have settled down now. Well, they still go out to the Commercial District on their days off, but I believe Ratz-onesama and Eris-onesama have a better grasp of the outing permits."
When I answered, Onii-sama shifted his gaze to Ratz-onesama and Eris-onesama.
"How is it? Regarding their submissions and academic performance?"
"Yes~. For the students... no, for those who came to Weed, it’s still quite a novelty, so they enjoy shopping in the Commercial District, relaxing at the Super Sento, and buying playing cards or board games to enjoy at home or at school~. That said, they follow the proper procedures for going out, and they don’t break curfew, so there are no issues there."
As Ratz-onesama said, when the students first arrived, they would show their faces in the Commercial District almost daily to enjoy various things. We were the ones primarily guiding them, eating and playing together, so that’s how they found out about these places.
Well, I personally have mixed feelings about them bringing toys to school and getting obsessed with them during breaks, but since this is a Weed school, it’s not really my place to say anything. Besides, their academics haven’t suffered because of it.
"Regarding their academic ability, we conduct regular quizzes to check their progress, and there are no problems. We plan to see the results of their studies in the first-term final exams, which will be held in one month, but as of now, I have no concerns. The teachers are also settling in well."
That’s right. As a culmination of this trial opening, we are planning the first-term final exams in one month. This is to gauge the students' level of learning, as well as to examine the teachers' educational methods, test content, and daily life. Fortunately, there are no students or teachers falling ill. Ah, there is the occasional case of overeating, but that has become a customary event upon coming to Weed, so I don’t count that.
"It’s a relief that there are no particular problems. However, they are in a foreign land and may be accumulating stress without realizing it. Please keep a close watch on that. I’m especially worried about the Elementary division. Hiiro, can you continue with the report?"
The next report is naturally for the Elementary division, but because it’s Hiiro, I feel a tinge of anxiety. It is true that since she gained her position as a naval officer under Onii-sama, she has learned how to handle paperwork, but from my perspective, her manners and attitude toward work still leave much to be desired. The older sisters are too soft on Hiiro, so I’m worried. Stasia-onesama especially...
"Yes. It’s fine."
Ignoring my concerns, Hiiro began her report.
"For the Elementary division, there are no particularly notable problems. Fusora is also settling in well. If there is one point of concern, it’s that there seems to be a difference in perception between students from continents where magic is easily accessible and those from continents where it is difficult—the If Continent versus the others."
"A difference in perception?"
"Er, well, for those from continents where magic is commonplace, it’s natural, so it doesn’t really affect their status. But the children from the If Continent seem to have the perception that they are 'great' just because they can use magic, so there’s a difference in opinion there."
"A difference in opinion. Does it lead to fighting?"
"Not quite that far, but they have this idea that 'we who can use magic are special.' I asked them about it in detail, and it seems they know that the people here can use magic normally, but... since everyone around them here is someone who was gathered from elsewhere, and because magic basically can’t be used in the Commercial District, they don’t really have a sense of it. Right, Asu-onee?"
"Yeah. Like Hiiro-chan said, I felt that a bit, too. But there’s no trouble~. They’re keeping their manners and seem to have an awareness that they are children of nobility, right? Isn't that right, Firia-chan?"
"That is certainly the impression I get. But it feels more like they are trying to suppress those around them, or perhaps just overreaching. Even so, they aren't capable of using advanced magic themselves, so it feels like a circumstance unique to the If Continent."
I see. I had heard similar things in the High School division. The people selected from the Lancer Magic Academy understood the special significance of their position, but since they had heard from Principal Popuri and the top students of the academy that people from other continents were more skilled in magic, they likely wouldn't do anything that could lead to diplomatic issues.
In fact, there are demonstrations of magic, and above all, it is an opportunity to get to know people who are highly skilled in magic. That said, it’s not as if the selected students are inferior to those from other continents, so there is no discrimination based on skill gaps. By the time they reach the High School level, everyone is aware of research, self-discipline, and even the phenomenon of magic exhaustion.
The students from other continents who serve as a foothold for that, and of course, the people at the center of it all in Weed, wouldn't want to cause any trouble. Or so I had thought, but...
"I see. ...Hmm, if we aren't careful, this could become a problem when it really counts."
