Chapter 9: February 7th – February 28th, Payday

When I got home, I was first place on the daily rankings. I can’t even believe it.

February 7th. I was watching TV at home when a fire news report came on. Some building fire, I think.

‘Firefighters have arrived and are putting out the flames, but it looks like some people still haven’t evacuated.’

The reporter was describing the scene. “Man, this is bad…” they said. Then—suddenly—I thought, *I could help*. I’d been wanting to use my abilities for something like this. Wasn’t this exactly the moment?

This was live. I thought, *Can I get there?* And I opened space.

Getting better at it, I can now go straight to where I want—no more white void in between.

Maybe because I’d already seen the news, I could picture it clearly. No problem getting there.

There were a lot of people. I stopped time, slipped inside the building… and—

Inside was seriously hot. Even with time stopped, temperature didn’t change. I’ve got heat resistance, sure—but still only (Ⅰ). I still can’t shut off the feeling of heat.

While searching the building, I found someone who’d fallen behind. Decided to carry them out.

Guess it’s from the construction work, or maybe the strength enhancement effect—I managed to carry this heavy dude fine.

Dropped him off at the building’s entrance, opened space again, and went home.

‘Wait—looks like someone who’d been trapped managed to escape on their own. Are they okay? Firefighters are rushing in to help now.’

The reporter was saying the old guy was safe... If there was a way to help people like this, I thought, I’ll keep doing it from now on. That night, I went to bed.

I’m so worried I keep checking the vacant lot for Gacha, even though I don’t have any money.

No items, weapons, armor—nothing at all came out.

There might be a weapon or armor Gacha somewhere... but I can't do a damn thing about it if I don't have the cash!
