A single swarm of bees floats above me.
The atmosphere was distinctly different from usual observation.
They are clearly viewing this side as an enemy. Preparing to fight.
The nest's height had reached approximately halfway to the target location.
By this point, the behavior of the bees had begun to shift subtly. It appeared the other side could no longer ignore them.
Still only one unit.
Are they testing us, or is this just a reconnaissance unit?
Regardless, don’t think you can beat me with just one squad.
I assume the position of the Moonspider Star.
The nest is woven in a mesh pattern, but has gaps large enough to launch the Moonspider Star from within.
Yet even those gaps are not large enough for a bee over two meters in length to pass through.
They cannot breach the net, but I can attack freely from within.
They can always fly away at any moment, so it’s a stalemate.
Two Level 5 units charge in.
Hmph.
Even with two attacking simultaneously, my nest remains unshaken.
Spider silk skill level: 8.
Even at lower levels, my silk possessed extraordinary durability. Now that it has been refined through leveling, its resilience is further enhanced.
As expected, the two bees collided with the surface of the nest and became ensnared by the threads that did not so much as tremble.
Despite their massive frames and considerable speed, the nest sustained no damage.
Literally, not a single vibration.
The threads woven across my nest possess extraordinary durability and exhibit elastic properties akin to rubber, designed to absorb impact.
When subjected to a certain threshold of force, the threads stretch and dissipate the shock.
The bees’ impact did not even reach that level.
Thus, the attack was negligible.
It lacked the force necessary to even require shock dissipation—merely enduring through raw resilience.
The bees’ impact was not inherently weak.
Observation revealed that, despite appearances, these bees were quite formidable.
Some of the monsters the bees bring back include that serpent.
Airborne assault. Poison stinger attacks. Attacks leveraging superior physique.
All would be significant threats under normal circumstances.
Their altitude grants immunity to ground-based attacks, allowing them to initiate assaults unopposed.
Still, that is why they are vulnerable to anti-air measures.
My Spider Moon Star's near-perfect accuracy, I suspect, stems from their lack of caution in such matters.
Thus, the bees are formidable opponents when engaged conventionally.
Yes—conventionally.
My trump card, My Home, is not conventional.
Nonstandard defense. Nonstandard restraint. Nonstandard siege capacity.
The bees have likely never seen tactics like this.
The strongest trump card a spider possesses, wielded by human intellect.
Two bees still entangled in the nest, stuck mid-charge, left unattended.
A single Moony Star flung at the remaining three, still unable to comprehend the situation.
The leader bee, unable to evade, takes the Moony Star directly.
Target first—head, naturally.
Struck straight on, the centrifugal force and fall force drive the leader bee’s body downward into the nest.
Leader eliminated.
The two remaining bees freeze in place, unable to react to the leader’s downfall.
Perfect target.
Begin with the higher-level one—dispatch it with a Moony Star.
The final bee finally regains composure, but its subsequent actions are woefully inadequate.
Whether aiming for a resurrection or not, it charged directly at me.
Does it not comprehend that the previous two were eliminated?
Regardless, such a battered assault cannot reach me. The final one collided abruptly with the hive and ceased movement.
Unremarkable.
The bees that had seemed so terrifying when falling were powerless against the hive I constructed.
Given the hive did not tremble from the impact, it is apparent that no number of such attacks could breach my defenses.
The hive's defensive integrity has been confirmed.
In games, excessive defense often renders one immune to damage from minor enemies.
In this case, the relationship between my hive and the bees has become inverted.
I had assumed that taking a bee attack would inflict damage sufficient to require repair, even if penetration was impossible.
Above, at least a hundred bees still swarmed.
At first, the sheer number of them induced fear. But once it became clear that the hive could not be breached, the situation changed.
No matter how many—hundred or thousand—there were, they could not reach me if the hive remained unbroken.
This now greatly increased the likelihood of escape.
I moved with lightness, preparing to deliver the final blow to the captured bee.
