105. Does Hickey dream of going outside?
Many things occurred, but the mid-tier conquest progressed smoothly.
Slain monsters in abundance. Level rose. Skill level increased significantly.
In the midst of this, Gluttony finally reached level 10.
Was Wrath coming?
No. Prepared for it, but the evolved skill’s name was “Satiety LV1.”
Satiety: Allows consumption of food beyond physical limits. Upon doing so, HP, MP, and SP recover. Excess portions may be stored. Stored excess is converted into pure energy, preventing weight gain. Storage capacity increases with level progression.
Wrath did not arrive. Still, the performance is remarkable.
Essentially, this skill now applies the previously SP-exclusive effect to HP and MP as well.
The amount of excess stored is lower compared to SP, but that does not change the fact that it is still remarkable.
Even having a low base HP was pleasant, as it had been inflated.
Additionally, the endurance effect applied. Increased HP and MP meant higher survival rate.
MP had been excessive to begin with, but being able to stock it reduced waste.
The effect of not gaining weight, however, provided no benefit to me.
I wasn’t overweight to begin with.
Why was that?
The Gluttony description stated that only stored amounts would cause weight gain. I had maxed out storage, so I should have been significantly heavier. Yet, I showed no increase in size at all.
Some peculiarity of my spider-like physiology, perhaps. Unknown. But since I would no longer gain weight moving forward, I decided not to concern myself.
Right.
The Gluttony stock capacity had reached its limit before leveling up.
The limit appeared to be level × 100, capping at 900.
The Gluttony evolution allowed for a slight increase in the upper limit, but I suspect it will cap again at 1,000.
Once the stock capacity reaches its maximum, the Japanese sense of wastefulness makes one feel compelled to consume rather than let it go unused.
Thus, I made a habit of consuming SP more generously during regular movement.
Specifically, I moved by jumping and running simultaneously.
This allowed me to accumulate skill proficiency in Vedanta and similar abilities.
As a result, Vedanta and other skills leveled up.
Explosive Speed and Endurance also leveled up—finally reaching the cap.
Evolved.
Each evolved into the skills of Instant Step and Endurance, respectively, with growth modifiers now applied.
Now, every stat receives a positive modifier upon leveling up.
The high magic progression is due to Lady Sophia’s influence, and the speed boost comes from the Vedanta skill I already had.
Hmm.
I was originally a high-mobility physical type, yet my stat distribution now reads as a high-mobility magic type.
The transformation stems entirely from Lady Sophia’s influence, but whether I’ve actually become a magic type is debatable.
Magic skill levels have risen across the board.
They have increased, but still fall short compared to the Spider Venom skill.
Ultimately, in a real fight, Spider Venom remains my primary tool—magic functions only as support.
It’s unavoidable, really.
I’ve relied on Spider Silk and Spider Venom for everything so far.
The sudden burst of magic makes it feel almost pointless—what was the point of all that effort, really?
Ah, hurry up and use the spider silk.
I’m stuck in the middle layer, despite having evolved into universal thread—useless here.
Once I reach the upper tier, I’ll build a nest first. Then I’ll dedicate time to thorough skill research.
After that, I’m honestly unsure what to do.
I said I wouldn’t worry—but I can’t say I’m completely indifferent.
The Administrator.
The Skill.
To learn about them, I’ll have to find someone who knows.
But what do people in this world even think about the Administrator?
I don’t know.
Come to think of it, I haven’t communicated with anyone in this world at all.
I’m here!
I’m here too!
You're no different from me! I'm talking about someone else—t, t, t—!
Phew.
More fools appear every day. As the brain, I'm constantly burdened.
Right, yes—communication.
In my previous life, I hardly communicated at all. But the internet allowed me access to information.
Now it's different.
The Archivist’s search is limited to only a portion of skill-related data.
Even if I investigate, the crucial details remain concealed.
Information capable of linking to the Administrator is universally unverifiable.
Considering it, I’m essentially a recluse who’s never left this world since birth.
Never left the Elro Great Labyrinth.
Stuck without sources, a recluse inevitably lacks awareness of world affairs. No surprise there.
To learn about the Administrator, one must exit the Elro Great Labyrinth and converse with humans of this world.
But I cannot speak, and I am a monster. Normal conversation would be difficult.
Still, I do not need to leave the monsters’ domain. Conversation might be manageable.
One option is acquiring the telepathy skill.
The other is evolving into a certain type of monster.
A new feature added by the Sage: the Evolution Tree.
This displays, at a glance, all possible evolutions available to me in the future.
Previously, I simply selected from available options at the moment of evolution. But it appears I have evolved quite favorably.
The Evolution Tree reveals that poison-type monsters are exceptionally rare.
Even the current Zoa Erel is among them.
That is irrelevant now.
The issue lies in the information regarding a specific monster listed as a possible evolution.
Arachne.
A monster with a spider’s lower body and a human upper body.
A creature well known in Japan from a previous life.
If I wished to evolve into this creature, the path would be somewhat distant, but possible.
If I have a human upper body, I should be able to speak.
The issue remains—despite that, I am still a monster. Whether humans will listen to me is uncertain.
What should I do?
Well, thinking about it now won’t help.
Whether or not I evolve is still far off.
Above all, I cannot leave the inner layer without breaking through the middle tier.
I’ll think about it later.
